If you’ve spent any time around Sidel blow molders, you know the headache. Whether you’re running an old-school SBO or a newer Matrix, keeping your heat consistent is a nightmare. Most people think you just match the wattage and call it a day. But it’s not that simple. We built our replacement lamps for the Blomax 10 to be a true “plug and play” situation. No fuss, no fighting with the hardware. Just a clean swap. The nitty-gritty on power Getting PET preforms to that exact glass transition temperature is a balancing act. If your voltage is even slightly off, you’re looking at uneven heating or, worse, filaments that burn out way too soon. We spec these lamps to fit the OEM footprint exactly. Now, here is the thing: high-wattage tubes are great for fast cycle times, but they put a lot of stress on your power supplies. Before you swap them in, take a look at your electrical panels. If your contactors are pitted or dirty, you’ll get voltage drops that kill your efficiency. No drilling, no bending Nobody wants to spend their weekend modifying a machine. That’s why we use high-purity quartz glass. It handles the thermal shock of rapid cycling without cracking. We also spent a lot of time mapping the dimensions of the SBO and Matrix series so the end caps slide right into the sockets. You don’t need to bend brackets or drill new holes. You just pull the old tube out, wire the new one up, and you’re back in business. The trade-off These lamps are built for the grind. By matching the spectral output of the original lamps, your heat profiles stay where they belong. But there is a catch. If you push these lamps to their max wattage to get those Matrix-level speeds, your oven housing is going to soak up a lot of that heat. Keep your cooling fans dusted and clear. If you don’t, you risk warping your reflectors over time. It’s a small price to pay for higher throughput, but it’s something you can’t ignore.
