
Making Your PET Blowing Lamps Just Work
If you’ve ever tried to find an IR lamp that actually fits a machine from a different brand, you know it’s usually a headache. It mostly boils down to three things: the power, the size, and how the heat actually hits the plastic. We built our lamps to be “drop-in” replacements. For about 95% of the gear out there, you can just swap them out and get back to work.
The Nitty-Gritty: Power and Fit
Most PET ovens run on high voltage to keep things hot. We stick to the common 230V and 400V setups. Now, a 400V, 2500W tube is a beast. It gives you that raw heat you need to preheat the plastic fast. But a quick heads-up: make sure your cooling fans can keep up. You don’t want your oven turning into a sauna. As for the fit, we use R7s and SK15 connectors. They’re the industry standard for a reason. If the pins line up and the length is right—usually anywhere from 165mm to 300mm—you’re good to go. No need to go hacking away at your oven rack.
Why the Materials Matter
We use high-purity quartz glass. Why? Because these lamps cycle on and off constantly, and cheap glass just cracks under that kind of thermal shock. The real secret is the halogen gas filling. It lets us crank the filament temperature higher, which creates short-wave IR. Instead of just warming the surface of the PET preform, the heat actually sinks deep into the wall of the plastic. Some of our tubes even have a special coating. It acts like a mirror, bouncing the heat back toward the plastic and away from the machine frame. It’s a simple trick, but it stops your chassis from stealing energy that should be going into your product.
Real-World Advice
Here’s the best part: these lamps are a lifesaver for those old legacy machines. You don’t have to wait weeks for an OEM part that costs three times what it should. Just check your wattage and your length, grab our stock, and you’re set. One tip, though: don’t be tempted to over-spec the wattage. If you go too high, you might fry your contactors. Just stick to what the machine originally called for, and you’ll be in the clear.
